Botswana is only a few hours drive from Upington and the Kalahari Monate Lodge. If you drive north you will cross the border at Tsabong. The only overnight accommodation near Tsabong is Berrybush basic but clean chalets on a farm. From Berrybush it will take you only an hour with a 4x4 track to the Trans Kgalagadi Frontier Park. Further to the north and deeper into the Kalahari lies Kang. Kang Ultra Lodge offers the best accommodation along the Trans Kalahari Highway between Upington and Maun.

The next stop will be Ghanzi, the gateway to the Kalahari. In Ghanzi you will stay in either the traditional Kalahari Arms Hotel or in the more basic Thakadu Lodge on a game farm. From Ghanzi you will drive north to Maun where you can select accommodation from MAUN ACCOMMODATION such as the new Thamlakane River Lodge. Strictly speaking Maun is still in the Kalahari but the vegetation is very different to Upington due to the water of the Okavango Delta. The Okavango Delta is a water wilderness with some of the best accommodation. The Moremi Game Reserve lies in the Okavango Delta. If you prefer the far Northern part of the Okavango Delta you can select accommodation at Shakawe on the Western panhandle of the Okavango Delta. Here Drotsky Cabins is a fishing and birding paradise.

Gaborone the capital city of Botswana is within easy reach of Upington. here you can choose between the luxury accommodation of Cresta Lodge Gaborone or stay at the The Big Five Lodge ten minutes from the CBD of Gaborone. If you want something very similar to the Kalahari Monate Lodge you can stay in Mokolodi Lodge Gaborone self-catering accommodation 10 minutes from the CBD, situated on a nature reserve.

Further to the North is Serowe where Khama Rhino Sanctuary offers accommodation very similar to Kalahari Monate Lodge in a game reserve which will remind you of your stay in Spitskop Nature Reserve in Upington. Not far from Serowe is Botswana's second city, Francistown. Here you can overnight at Woodlands a camp with self-catering accommodation.

Upington is very central in South Africa and you can easily reach the Makgadigadi Pans in Botswana within a day from Kalahari Monate Lodge. Here you can select accommodation at Gweta or simply stay in Nata. Nata Lodge is a new lodge in Nata on the edge of the Makgadigadi Pans. If you want to drive from Upington to Kasane and Chobe you can overnight at Nata or Francistown. In the Chobe region you can either stay at SENYATI SAFARI LODGE if you prefer self-catering accommodation, or at Toro Lodge in Kazangula.
